After posting losses again and again for a period of 4 years, Harley Davidson finally registered profits for the firt time since 2006 in 2010. Harley Davidson Motorcycles have continued with their increase in sales figures for calendar year 2011 as well.
In the last quarter of calendar year 2011, Harley Davidson Motorcycles posted a profit of $105.7 million while their sales increased by 11% compared to the same period last year. Mr Keith Wandell, Chief Executive and President, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, said, "We're encouraged by the retail sales trend but we'll continue to keep a close watch on the marketplace and we remain cautious in our expectations for 2012."
In all Harley Davidson shipped 50,730 motorcycles to dealers around the globe in 2011 Q4. In 2010 Q4 Harley Davidson shipped just 44,481 units. Harley Davidson also registered increase in revenue from sales of spares and accessories. Revenue from spares and accessories stood at $161.2 million for 2011 Q4. Revenue from Harley Davidson clothes, jackets, boots, etc too increased by 13% to $ 69.3 million. Harley Davidson aims to ship approximately 245,000 motorcycles in 2012, which if achieved, will be an increase by 5%.
